Cosmetic surgery isn’t just for women!
Whilst cosmetic surgery procedures have traditionally been considered a female pursuit, plastic surgery for men has become increasingly popular. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), more than 289,000 procedures such as nose reshaping (rhinoplasty) and liposuction were performed in 2020 alone, with an additional 820,123 minimally invasive procedures, such as Botox treatments or laser treatments for leg veins. Plastic surgery for men currently accounts for more than 8% of all cosmetic surgeries performed in the United States and Britain.
Popular cosmetic surgery procedures for men
Whilst men have an interest in a wide variety of cosmetic surgery procedures, liposuction, primarily in the abdomen, flanks and waist, is one procedure that tops the bill in popularity. Gynaecomastia or liposuction of the male breast area, to combat what’s commonly known as ‘man boobs’, is also very popular. In addition to these, men are seeking out otoplasty, rhinoplasty, facelifts, blepharoplasty and neck lifts – with male necks tending to show age more than the face.
